Rates steady as good inflation news seen.

Long-term interest rates held steady Monday in anticipation of good news on inflation.

The yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was unchanged at 6.63%, a record closing low. Ten-year notes yielded 5.73%, also unchanged on the day.

The government today will announce its Producer Price Index for June. Economists are expecting that the index was flat or fell as much as 0.3% because of tobacco price cuts. The Consumer Price Index is due out Wednesday.
