Retailer, Alliance Data Extend Pact

Alliance Data Systems Corp. said Thursday that it has renewed its contract to issue private-label credit cards for the Kearney, Neb., retailer Buckle Inc.

The Dallas card company did not give the length of the renewal, except to say it was "multiyear."

Buckle, an Alliance Data client since 1995, says it specializes in clothing, shoes, and accessories for "fashion-conscious young men and women." It runs more than 380 stores in 39 states.

In the fiscal year that ended Feb. 2, Buckle generated $620 million of sales. In the first seven months of this fiscal year, the retailer said, its sales increased 32%.

Alliance Data acquires and activates accounts, funds receivables, authorizes cards, generates statements, process remittances, handles customer service and marketing functions, and helps Buckle run its B-Rewards program, in which cardholders earn a point for every dollar spent and receive discounts on purchases from the retailer.

Dennis Nelson, Buckle's president and chief executive, said in a press release: "We rely on Alliance Data's industry knowledge and marketing tools to help us attract cardholders and keep them as ongoing guests. Through our partnership, we are able to offer valuable benefits to our most loyal shoppers."

Ivan Szeftel, Alliance Data's president of retail services, said in the release that Buckle has "an exciting brand that truly resonates with their target customer."
