Robert Shoffner Made President Of Citi Thrift On West Coast

Citibank's San Francisco thrift unit has promoted Robert Shoffner to group president, overseeing 78 California branches and four branches and a community lending center in Las Vegas.

Mr. Shoffner is in charge of the daily operations of consumer businesses on the West Coast. He reports to Stephen J. Liguori, Citibanking North America's business manager.

He is the successor to William Mullins, who had held the post on an interim basis since January.

Mr. Mullins succeeded William Silver, who resigned to pursue other interests, the bank said. Mr. Mullins has returned to his primary job as director of Citibanking North America's branch services.

Mr. Shoffner was Citibanking North America's national director of consumer sales, focused on core banking products, compensation issues, and recruiting.

He joined Citibank in 1992 as a branch manager in the Bay Area and later became an area sales manager and area director for the San Jose-Silicon Valley branches. Mr. Shoffner, who has 25 years of banking experience, has also worked for First Interstate Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank.
