Roundup: BB&T, Divesting Branches, Finds a Buyer

WHITEVILLE, N.C. - United Carolina Bank, a subsidiary of United Carolina Bancshares, agreed to buy $200 million in deposits "and certain other assets" from 12 branches being divested by BB&T Financial Corp. and Southern National Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

BB&T and Southern National are divesting the branches in the wake of their planned merger, which is scheduled to close on Feb. 28.
