"This network will provide us with the speed and reliability to get new customers on-line quickly and efficiently while continuing to deliver the highest-quality service possible on our system," said Stephen E. Clear, Savings & Loan Data president.

"The speed of the network will also allow us to provide |big bank' services to smaller banks, savings and loans, and other financial institutions in rural areas."

The new network's hub will be located at S&L Data's headquarters in Cincinnati, and Very Small Aperture Terminals, or VSATs, will be placed at all of the company's customer locations throughout an 18-state area in the Midwest.

The network will be provided over a satellite operated by GTE Spacenet.
