High Plains Capital Corp. alleges that SafeCard violated Florida's Uniform Trade Secrets Act and misused High Plains' materials and information. The suit is the latest of several that have been directed at Ideon, most of which have been filed by Peter Halmos, SafeCard's founder, since his ouster in December 1992. The legal assaults have been a drain on Ideon, currently reeling from the repudiation of an ambitious expansion strategy once heralded by chief executive Paul Kahn. Mr. Kahn slashed about a third of Ideon's staff over the summer, removing the Family Protection Network, and withdrew support of the Professional Golfers Association cobranded credit card.
