Short Takes: Bisys-Owned Firm To Offer Wrap Fund

Corelink Financial Inc., a third-party marketing firm, plans to introduce a mutual fund wrap product.

Portfolio Strategist is a fee-based product that allocates investors' money into a collection of mutual funds based on market conditions and their investment objectives.

The product - which includes funds from Franklin Templeton Group, Van Kampen American Capital Distributors Inc., Federated Investors, and AIM Management Group - can be customized. Standard & Poor's, New York, will provide advisory services and due diligence, among other things.

"It really gives them a lot of flexibility," a spokeswoman said. The product will be available to Corelink's 102 bank clients, as well as regional broker-dealers and bank trust departments, starting Nov. 2, she said.

At that time the Concord, Calif., company will be renamed Bisys Brokerage Services Inc. In July, Bisys Group of Little Falls, N.J., bought the 51% of Corelink that it did not already own.
