Short Takes: Bisys Unit Wins Two More Banks as Clients

Bisys Group's two-year-old insurance services subsidiary continues to add services and clients to its roster at a brisk pace.

Bisys Insurance Services announced Tuesday that Bank of Hawaii, Honolulu, and Matewan Banks, Williamson, W.Va., have contracted with it for a variety of services.

Bank of Hawaii, aiming at affluent and retail customers, will tap Bisys' insurance carriers, products, processing, and administrative services. Bisys also will provide technological support for the life and long-term care initiatives of the bank's Pacific Century Insurance Agency. Matewan will use similar services for its retail insurance program, according to Bisys, which is based in Little Falls, N.J.

Bisys Insurance Services has been building business steadily. This month it bought Underwriters Services Agency, West Hartford, Conn. In a major deal last month, MetLife General Agency Inc. awarded it a five-year installation and maintenance contract for a centralized information system.

Bisys, which provides a range of back-office services to banks, entered the insurance business in 1996 when it bought Underwriters Group, Harrisburg, Pa.
