Short Takes: Credit Suisse Names Private Banking Exec

Credit Suisse this month named Michael J. Mediano to head its private banking operation in California.

Before joining the Zurich-based bank, Mr. Mediano was Western regional investment director for Citicorp private banking. At Credit Suisse, he will be a member of senior management, located in Los Angeles, overseeing six private banking executives in California.

Before a reorganization of private banking in January, Credit Suisse account managers in Los Angeles and San Francisco reported directly to Barry R. Sloane, who heads all North American private banking from New York.

"This represents an expansive move by Credit Suisse private banking to further establish its West Coast business," a spokesman said. "We really hadn't had a head of private banking there."

Credit Suisse's North American private banking operation also maintains offices in Houston, Miami, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Nassau, Bahamas. Investment management for private clients is provided by BEA Associates, a New York-based wholly owned subsidiary of the bank.
