Short Takes: Evergreen Firm's Co-CEO Retiring in July

Evergreen Asset Management Corp.'s president and co-chief executive officer, Nola Maddox Falcone, is to retire next month after 25 years with the company.

Evergreen Asset Management of Purchase, N.Y., manages about $15 billion of First Union Corp.'s $58 billion-asset Evergreen Fund group. Charlotte, N.C.-based First Union bought Evergreen's predecessor company, Lieber & Co., in 1994.

Besides her administrative duties, Ms. Falcone, 59, managed several portfolios. Her duties as an asset manager will be taken on by Irene O'Neill, Jordan Alexander, Peter Kovalski, and Connie Unger. Ms. O'Neill will also assume some of Ms. Falcone's administrative duties but will not get the title of president, an Evergreen spokesman said. Stephen Lieber is to continue as chairman and chief executive officer of Evergreen Asset Management.
