Short Takes: Five Deutsche Funds Add Class C Shares

Deutsche Fund Management Inc. has introduced class C shares of five mutual funds.

The shares are available in the company's Top 50 Europe, Top 50 U.S., European Mid-Cap, German Equity, and European Bond funds.

Class C shares let customers avoid up-front charges.

Instead, 1% is deducted annually from their investment, said Peter T. Moeller, director of sales at Deutsche Fund Management. This type of share is an alternative to a wrap account, which typically charges a fee of 1.25% to 1.5%, he said.

Deutsche Fund Management is a subsidiary of DWS Group, the retail mutual fund arm of Deutsche Bank AG. It sells 10 mutual funds in the United States and has more than $422 million of assets under management.
