Short Takes: Hartford in Sales Deal With Web Dial-Up Firm

Hartford Financial Services Group began selling insurance last week to customers of the second-largest provider of Internet dial-up services.

The Hartford, Conn.-based insurer said it has a five-year deal to sell automobile and homeowners insurance to Juno Online Services' 6.1 million members.

At Juno's Internet site, Hartford advertisements will pop up regularly. Customer queries will be automatically linked to Hartford representatives who will supply a quote in about 10 minutes, the company said. Applications can be submitted electronically.

Hartford's Affinity Insurance Center, which operates 24-hours a day in Farmington, Conn., will service claims.
