Short Takes: Money Fund Assets Climbed 0.8% in Week

Assets invested in money market mutual funds jumped 0.79% to $1.028 trillion in the week ended Aug. 20, the Investment Company Institute reported.

The gains, which were across the board, were most pronounced in portfolios for institutional investors, which gained 1.34% to close the week at $351.33 billion. That includes $314.75 billion in taxable funds and $36.59 billion in tax-exempt funds.

On the retail side, assets jumped 0.5% to $676.82 billion. Taxable funds held $554.46 billion; tax-exempt funds held $122.36 billion.
