Short Takes: National City Trust Unit Gets New Benefits Chief

National City Corp. hired William L. Roland to head the employee benefits division of its institutional trust group.

Mr. Roland will join National City Nov. 4 from First Chicago NBD Corp. He will replace Timothy J. Driscoll, who resigned July 1, and report to Harold B. Todd Jr., the National City executive vice president who runs institutional trust.

Employee benefit assets under administration at Cleveland-based National City exceed $15 billion.

At First Chicago, Mr. Roland, a vice president, managed retirement services, administration and operations. He reported to David Kling, managing director of retirement services in Chicago.
