The smart card systems company 3-G International Inc. announced the availability of Passage Government, its multiple- application package designed for government agencies.
The product consists of all required hardware and software and a card issuance and management capability.
Passage Government draws on "years of experience in developing smart card systems for government customers as well as our latest Passage Enterprise solutions for commercial markets," said John McKeon, 3-G director of smart card solutions. "We're making it very easy for card issuers, information technology providers, and others to offer a comprehensive smart card solution to their government customers."
Based on open standards, the system supports multiple types of smart cards, standard Web browsers and e-mail packages from Microsoft and Netscape, X.509 digital certificates, and encryption and network security protocols SSL version 3 and S/MIME.
The six available applications are physical access monitoring and visitor control, property pass, personnel attendance, personnel locator, event ticketing, and card management.
