Smart Bits: Smart Card Forum Sets Sixth Annual Meeting

The Smart Card Forum will hold a day-long symposium on the technology and its growth possibilities as part of its sixth annual meeting Sept. 9-10 in San Francisco.

The meeting is to open with a keynote speech by Hatim Tyabji, the recently retired chief executive officer of Verifone Inc. Also on the program is an address by Pulitzer Prize-winner Patrick Dillon on the nature of technology change and adaptation.

A panel discussion co-sponsored by the Global Chipcard Alliance will signal the opening of a dialogue between the two multi-industry education groups.

The second day will be devoted to a symposium of selected industry leaders hoping to "break new ground about the possibilities and applications of smart cards," the forum said.
