Smart Bits: Smart Card Group Elects Vice Chairman

Mondex International Ltd. elected Janet Hartung Crane vice chairman.

Ms. Hartung Crane, 42, is a senior vice president at Wells Fargo & Co., and manages the San Francisco bank's Mondex program. She is also a director on the boards of Cirrus, Star, and Mondex.

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Ms. Hartung Crane was senior vice president of MasterCard International, responsible for product and service delivery of MasterCard's U.S. Region.

Before that, she was a network services division executive at Mellon Bank Corp.

David Mills, the Midland Bank executive who serves as Mondex's chairman, called Ms. Hartung Crane "an ideal choice for the role of vice chair."

Ms. Hartung Crane succeeds Richard Goeltz as vice chairman. Mr. Goeltz, formerly of Natwest Group, the London-based developer of Mondex, recently became chief financial officer of American Express Co.
