Smart Bytes: New Unit to Monitor Public-Sector Moves

Separately, the Smart Card Forum, which is based in Tampa, announced formation of a unit to focus on smart card developments and educational activities in the public sector.

For its launching, the unit has scheduled a one-day seminar Sept. 4 in the Marriott at Metro Center, Washington. Gerald Hubbard, marketing director of Micro Card Technologies Inc. and Smart Card Forum director, will discuss the structure and goals of the government unit.

Other speakers scheduled to address this technology's impact on government agency activities include Jack Radzikowski, chief of the federal financial systems branch, U.S. Office of Management and Budget; Smart Card Forum founder Catherine Allen; and Michael Smith, general manager of Schlumberger Danyl.
