Here’s a surprise: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac won’t be doing all that much in the affordable housing department this coming fiscal year. They didn’t meet their goals in the current FY, either, according to Federal Housing Finance Agency Director James B. Lockhart III. In fact, Fannie and Freddie’s contributions to the housing trust may be a big fat zero.
The Cleveland-based bank is projecting steady growth in net interest income even as credit losses remain manageable. But Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman also said that he thinks a recession is likely.
