Societe Generale Adds To Junk Research Unit

Societe Generale Securities Corp. is continuing to build its high-yield research group.

The French bank's securities arm last week hired David Wells, a media and telecom analyst from Bear, Stearns & Co.; and John Krasnoff, a papers, packaging, and steel analyst from PaineWebber Inc.

Both senior analysts will be directors and will report to Paul Shaum, managing director and head of high-yield research.

The hires bring SocGen's high-yield research team to seven. Executives of the bank said it plans to continue to increase staff at junior levels.
