Southern National Corp. said it had made three high-level promotions, including that of Henry G. Williamson Jr. to chief operating officer. Mr. Williamson, 48, had held that title at BB&T Financial Corp. until that company merged with Southern National last February.

At the same time as Mr. Williamson was promoted last week, Kelly S. King, 47, a BB&T consumer banker for 23 years, was elevated to president of the holding company.
