Sovereign of Pa. Hires a Radio Finance Adviser As Senior VP

Sovereign Bank, based in Wyomissing in eastern Pennsylvania, has hired a Philadelphia-area radio personality and reporter as a senior vice president.

Fred Sherman will continue to report on business and provide daily market analysis on KYW News Radio 1060 AM in Philadelphia, and to host a personal finance call-in show on WPHT 1210 AM, which is based just outside the city in Bala Cynwyd.

His bank responsibilities will entail public speaking as well as meeting with political, business, and community leaders in the Philadelphia area.

The Sovereign Bancorp subsidiary also hired John V. Killen as a Community Reinvestment Act officer. He will be a vice president and be based in Villanova.

Mr. Killen was vice president of urban lending at First Union Bank in Philadelphia. There he managed daily operations of the community lending group and an investment portfolio for single- and multifamily mortgages.
