The office supply retailer Staples Inc. has agreed to offer prepaid cards from Blackhawk Network, a Pleasanton, Calif., unit of Safeway Inc.
Blackhawk, which typically sells gift cards through grocery stores, said Monday that the deal with Staples should expand its reach to small-business owners.
"Working with Staples, we will reach small-business owners and give them the opportunity to purchase prepaid gift cards for their employees in the same place they buy office supplies," Don Kingsborough, Blackhawk's chief executive officer, said in a press release.
