State Street Research adds bond fund and 3 asset-allocation funds.

State Street Research & Management has broadened its 401(k) offerings by adding three asset-allocation funds and an intermediate bond fund.

The additions bring to 24 the number of portfolios the Boston money management firm offers to investors, including those in 401(k) defined contribution retirement plans.

The new asset-allocation funds mix stocks, bonds, and cash instruments to create portfolios that meet customers' risk criteria.

The bond fund invests in government securities, corporate bonds and notes, mortgage-related securities, and other debt products.
