NEW YORK - A Swift communications center will be opened next year in Jersey City, the operator of the international banking network disclosed.
The facility will be a "clone" of a Swift center in lower Manhattan.
An operations officer with Swift - the Society for Worldwide interbank Financial Telecommunication - said the new installation will accommodate growth in traffic and subscribers and will serve as a backup to the New York center.
Swift also has a U.S. processing center in Culpeper, Va. The headquarters of the communications consortium are in Belgium.
