Taxable assets fuel money market gains.

Assets of money market mutual funds grew 0.16%, to $594.65 billion, in the week that ended July 27, the Investment Company Institute reported.

The increase, from $593.71 billion the previous week, was concentrated in taxable funds for both retail and institutional investors.

On the retail side. assets slipped to $422.19 billion. a decline of $259.3 million.

The 418 taxable retail funds gained $88.1 million, closing the week at $330.22 billion. But the 25t tax-exempt funds for retail investors had a $347.4 million out-flow, to $91.96 billion.

Among institutional funds, assets grew $1.2 billion, to $172.46 billion.

Assets of the 230 taxable institutional funds rose by $1.51 billion, to $151.17 billion. The 55 tax-exempt institutional funds dropped $308.6 million, to $21.3 billion.
