The Toronto-based company said the new office will be in Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv and other cities in Israel such as Be'er Sheva, Haifa and Jerusalem have become hotbeds of cyberdefense technology, processes and systems.

TD said that the new office will support its ongoing development of cyber-related technical programs, research and development and learning curriculum. It is the first Canadian bank to open a cyber-related office in Tel Aviv.

"Customers and employees need to transact with confidence in the digital era," Colleen Johnston, group head, direct channels, technology, marketing and corporate and public affairs for TD Bank Group, said in a press release.

"In Israel, TD will tap into one of the world's deepest pools of talent and know-how in cybersecurity, and further strengthen our ability to build new, secure, applications as we build the bank of the future," she added.
