Tech Bytes: B of A Account Data Via Hand held Device

Bank of America has become the first bank to announce it will make some services available through a handheld computing device.

Users of the Palm VII from Palm Computing Inc., a 3Com company, will be able to gain real-time access to account information through a wireless connection from the device to Bank of America's Web site. They will be able to see their balances and whether checks have cleared.

The Palm VII organizer will be tested nationally in January and is expected to be widely available later in the year.
