BOSTON - Bank of Boston Corp.'s South American subsidiary has earned a quality assurance certification for its international securities safekeeping operations, bank officials said.
The certification, called ISO 9000, was devised by the International Standards Organization as worldwide model for product design, development, production, installation, and service.
According to Bank of Boston officials, its unit was the first institution in South America - and one of less than 10 worldwide - to earn the certification.
"ISO 9000 certification is a good measure of a company's ability to deliver the highest quality of service because it's an internationally standardized process," said Bank of Boston chairman Charles K. Gifford.
