Tech Bytes: Digital Signature, Xcert to Swap Technologies

Digital Signature Trust Co., the electronic certification subsidiary of Zions First National Bank, said it entered into a licensing agreement with Xcert International Inc. of San Francisco.

They will make available to each other's customers Digital Signature Trust's certification authority service bureau and Xcert's public key infrastructure, or PKI, technology.

"Xcert's flexibility, open architecture, and market-leading adoption of standards make it an ideal PKI solution for our customers," said Scott Lowry, president of the trust company, known as DST.

"Whether you need to outsource your certificate authority requirements or need help migrating it in-house, DST offers market-leading solutions and Xcert is delighted to be providing the underlying software," said Xcert president Thomas Nolan.

DST also has certificate-technology agreements with Certco, Entrust Technologies, GlobeSet, and Netscape Communications. It also has strategic alliances with Datakey, ICL, SAIC, and Surety Technologies.
