Mr. Levine was managing director and global head of equities technology at Deutsche Bank. Before that he spent 12 years at Morgan Stanley, most recently as chief technology officer.

Ms. Chrapaty was head of E-Trade Technologies.

Mr. Levine will oversee E-Trade's broad technology efforts from the company's new technology center in Alpharetta, Ga. Ms. Chrapaty will remain at company headquarters, where she will be responsible for launching products, services, and content to be delivered through various channels, such as broadband, digital, television, and devices like wireless phones, television set-top boxes, and personal digital assistants.

Mr. Levine and Ms. Chrapaty will report to Christos M. Costakos, chairman and chief executive officer of E-Trade. All three will be members of E-Trade's newly formed office of technology.
