Tech Bytes: Insurance Data Firm Sells Its Web Business

HomeCom Communications Inc. said it reached an agreement to buy the Web business of iiX, the Insurance Information Exchange.

It is one of a series of divestitures by iiX, to be completed by the end of January, as it returns to a focus on core insurance information services.

Tim Higham, vice president of insurance services for HomeCom Communications, said, "As one of the most well-known names in the insurance industry, iiX has led the Internet charge for several years. The acquisition of this business and these clients further establishes HomeCom as a leader in the technology arena for the insurance and financial services industries."

HomeCom offers custom Web development and on-line banking and electronic commerce products, including the Windows-based Personal Internet Banker and Harvey One to One Marketing software.
