Tech Bytes: Near IPO, Bill Payer In Flurry of Hirings

Princeton Ecom Corp., a provider of electronic bill presentment and bill payment services, announced a handful of executive appointments ahead of its initial public stock offering.

Ron Averett joined as president and chief operating officer, taking on day-to-day administrative responsibility from Donald C. Licciardello, who remains chairman and chief executive officer. Mr. Averett previously was head of Chevy Chase Bank's credit card unit.

Princeton Ecom, which recently changed its name from Princeton Telecom Corp., also said Chris Sugden, formerly of magazine publisher Freedom Communications Inc., came on board in February as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Donald Brenton, a former Towers Perrin consultant, was also hired as chief information officer.

Steven Greenwood came from Telebanc Financial Corp. to be senior vice president and marketing chief. Jason Goldberg, a former Freedom Communications advertising director, was named senior vice president of sales.
