Banks were asked to include only their company's ATMs and not the ATMs of other banks that are in a shared network. ATMs in bank offices: Of the total number of ATMs, the amount located in or on traditional banking offices or facilities. ATMs outside offices: Of the total number of ATMs, the amount located away from banking offices or facilities. ATMs in regional networks: Of the total number of ATMs, the number connected to shared, regional networks with multibank participation. ATMs in national networks: Of the total number of ATMs, the number connected to national interchange networks such as Visa, Plus, MasterCard/Cirrus. (1) BankAmerica's most recent reported ATM count (dated 11/11/96) was 6,900. (2) NationsBank acquired Boatmen's Bancshares on Jan. 7. (3) Banc One acquired Liberty Bancorp on June 2.
