Transaction Processor to Offer GlobeSet Security

Transaction Systems Architects Inc. has agreed to be a reseller of GlobeSet Inc.'s software for electronic commerce transactions.

Transaction Systems Architects is responding to increasing merchant demand for processing of Internet-based credit card transactions as securely and efficiently as those in the physical world, said Daniel Heimann, director of business development.

"Make no mistake about it, merchants are driving this stuff," he said. "Merchants are looking at it as an opportunity to sell goods and services through a whole new market."

Mr. Heimann said Omaha-based Transaction Systems Architects would integrate GlobeSet's security software with its credit card and automated teller machine software, which is used by 2,200 banks, merchants, and processors.

GlobeSet of Austin, Tex., provides software for authenticating all parties in credit card transactions using the Secure Electronic Transaction protocol sponsored by MasterCard and Visa.

Mr. Heimann said the decision to resell GlobeSet software was spurred by the rush of on-line transactions during the Christmas season.

"This stuff is real, so we had to move and position ourselves in that environment," Mr. Heimann said.
