Transamerica Hires Ex-BankAmerica Exec As Sales Manager for Its

Robert D. Flowers Jr., who resigned as the head of BankAmerica Corp.'s retail brokerage unit in July, has landed a position at Transamerica Life Cos., in Charlotte, N.C.

Mr. Flowers started Nov. 3 as sales administration manager for the bank and broker-dealer channel of the company's insurance products division.

In the newly created position, he reports to John Myers, senior vice president of the insurance products division in Charlotte-and Mr. Flowers' predecessor at BankAmerica.

"We are happy to have Mr. Flowers on board to assist in the internal management and administration of the bank and broker dealer channels of distribution," said Mr. Myers through a spokeswoman.

Mr. Flowers could not be reached for comment, and few details of his new position were available.

Mr. Flowers resigned this summer as president and chief executive officer of BA Investment Services amid a sweeping reorganization of the BankAmerica unit. He joined BankAmerica in 1994, succeeding Mr. Myers, who held the position for just over one year.

Before moving to BankAmerica, Mr. Flowers held key positions in the brokerage units of Banc One Corp. and First Union Corp.

Transamerica Life Cos., a division of San Francisco-based Transamerica Corp., has $36.5 billion of assets and more than $3.9 billion in annual revenues.

It sells life insurance, annuities, long term care insurance, retirement plans, and other products.
