Treasury sells one-year bills at 3.27% rate.

WASHINGTON -- The Treasury yesterday sold $15.33 billion of one-year bills at an average discount rate of 3.27%, down from 3.30% in the previous auction on Aug. 19 and the lowest since the 3.12% incurred in the auction of April 29.

The coupon equivalent was 3.40%. The average price was 96.694.

The Treasury received $45.44 billion of tenders for the bills and accepted $15.33 billion, including $437 million offered noncompetitively from the public and $3.85 billion from federal Reserve Banks for themselves and as agents of foreign and international monetary authorities, all at the average. The New York Federal Reserve District applied for $42.93 billion of the bills and received $14.54 billion.
