The Las Vegas prepaid processor eCommLink Inc. said Tuesday that it has teamed up with Monitise Americas LLC, a Providence, R.I., joint venture of Metavante Technologies Inc. and Monitise PLC of London, to offer a prepaid debit card that can be managed through consumers' mobile phones.
Monitise Americas and eCommLink will jointly market the card, which will let consumers reload accounts, pay bills, and initiate money transfers either through text messages or a downloadable application.
"The mobile phone is the perfect way for people to manage their prepaid card accounts," Lisa Stanton, Monitise Americas' chief executive, said in a press release.
