Unit Of Deluxe if Wis. Plans Big Push in South America

MILWAUKEE - eFunds Corp., a unit of Deluxe Corp., is extending its reach in South America.

The company, which provides software used to manage and process electronic payments, has signed a marketing and service agreement with Optimisa, a Santiago, Chile-based provider of software and services to financial institutions, retailers, and network providers. It will market eFunds systems in Argentina, Chile, and Ecuador.

"This strategic relationship in South America opens the door to an important new market for us," said Michael Ruane, eFunds' vice president of software sales. "To enable the success of our local business partner, and ultimately our customers, eFunds expects to provide software, services and educational support to Optisma, which has established a track record of quality customer service in Argentina, Chile and Ecuador."

Separately, eFunds announced an agreement with CommLink, a Houston-based provider of electronic funds transfer services.

CommLink, a subsidiary of Jack Henry & Associates, will license eFunds' DataNavigator, which tracks and reports transactions; Connex on IBM, which drives automated teller machines and point of sale devices and authorizes transactions; and Connex Management System, which provides settlement, fee billing, and reconciliation services.
