Visa Inc. is planning to add $700 million to an existing litigation escrow account.

The San Francisco payments company said Tuesday that when it makes such a deposit, its issuers, as the only holders of Visa's Class B shares, "bear a corresponding financial impact via a reduction in their as-converted share count."

As a result, the net effect of the deposit is a repurchase by Visa of $700 million in its Class A common shares on an as-converted basis, Visa said.
