Visa targets tourists at San Francisco Pier.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Visa International is continuing its campaign to build U.S. merchant acceptance for its Electron debit card, targeting international tourists in San Francisco.

Electron cardholders can use the electronic debit cards at the city's top tourist attraction, Pier 39.

Hundreds of stores, 10 full-service restaurants, and amusement areas on the 45-acre pier are now accepting Electron.

Visa has targeted U.S. locations that attract international travelers from Latin America and Europe to promote acceptance of its debit product.

Electron can be accepted today by any Visa merchant in the United States with an electronic data capture terminal and receipt printer. More than 1.5 million of the three million merchants who already accept Visa in the U.S. have the capability to accept Electron.
