Wayne Savings Names O'Connell as CEO

Wayne Bancorp has promoted Johanna O'Connell to president and chief executive of its Wayne (N.J.) Savings Bank.

Chairman Harold P. Cook 3d will assume the responsibilities of chief executive officer of the holding company.

Ms. O'Connell succeeds William E. Vanderberg, who resigned. The company, which recently became publicly owned, said it was mutually agreed that a "temporary, treatable medical condition" of Mr. Vanderberg's might affect its strategy.

Ms. O'Connell, who joined the bank in 1989, was a vice president of the holding company and senior vice president and chief lending officer of the subsidiary.

Before joining Wayne Bancorp, she was an executive vice president and chief lending officer at Fellowship Savings and Loan Association, Bergenfield, N.J.
