Web Site to Target Spanish-Speakers

LOS ANGELES — Univision Online Inc., the online subsidiary of Univision Communications Inc., Countrywide Home Loans Inc., and Fannie Mae, on Monday announced the launching of casa.univision.com, a Web site for Spanish-speaking homebuyers.

The site is designed to help increase the homeownership rate among the nation’s 33 million Hispanics by providing homebuying information and an online loan application, the companies said. In 1999, 45.5% of Hispanic Americans owned their own homes.

Countrywide provides mortgage information and accepts applications on the site, while Fannie provides additional resources and mortgage products. “Our association with Univision.com and Fannie Mae is an extension of our commitment and concerted effort to provide home financing opportunities to Hispanic consumers,” said Angelo Mozilo, chairman of Countrywide. “We designed the information for Univision.com with a single goal in mind — to facilitate homeownership for the Hispanic community by providing information and various services in Spanish.”
