Wincor Nixdorf International GmbH has hired Patrick Wright as the chief executive of its U.S. division to expand sales in this country.
The German automated teller machine company has been trying to expand in the United States since 2006, and announced the hiring last week.
It said Mr. Wright's extensive banking background would play an important part in selling its machines to U.S. financial companies.
He will be in charge of increasing Wincor Nixdorf's sales of ATMs to banks and retailers, as well as the company's servicing capabilities.
Mr. Wright worked for more than 15 years at JPMorgan Chase & Co., most recently as a senior vice president and the New York banking company's head of retail operations in Columbus, Ohio.
Javier Lopez-Bartolome, Wincor Nixdorf's senior vice president of the Americas, said in a press release that one of "Wincor Nixdorf's primary objectives is our continued acquisition of market share in the vital U.S. market."
Mr. Wright's "direct industry expertise" should "accelerate our success," Mr. Lopez-Bartolome said.
Wincor Nixdorf said it is the world's second largest ATM company.
