Axa Financial Inc. announced Thursday that it had hired an AIG executive as a vice chairman of its board and the president and chief operating officer of its insurance units, Axa Equitable Life Insurance Co. and Mony Life Insurance Co.
John A. Graf was the executive vice president of international retirement savings at AIG. Earlier he had worked for Conseco, Western National Life Insurance Co., and John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co.
Mr. Graf will be part of an "office of the chief executive," whose creation Axa also announced Thursday. The other members are another vice chairman - chief financial officer Stanley B. Tulin - and president and chief executive Christopher M. "Kip" Condron.
Axa Financial had about $598 billion of assets under management on Dec. 31.
