In Brief: HSA Bank Seminars Planned Nationwide

HSA Bank, a division of the Webster Bank subsidiary of Webster Financial Corp. in Waterbury, Conn., has announced plans for a month-long, nationwide education push to inform people and businesses about the merits of health savings accounts.

From this Wednesday through Sept. 23, HSA Bank representatives are to hold seminars in Boston; Chicago; Cincinnati; Dallas; Hartford, Conn.; Houston; Los Angeles; Milwaukee; Minneapolis; New Orleans; New York; Phoenix; Portland, Ore.; San Diego; San Francisco; and Seattle, the bank said on Thursday. The seminars are to outline the advantages of choosing a high-deductible health plan with an HSA and the ways employers and account holders can capitalize on the product's potential.

The seminars will cost $99 per person to attend. Coinciding with them will be "webinars" hosted by HSA Bank. The webinars will begin early in September and run through yearend.

HSA Bank has customers in every state in the nation and was among the first financial institutions to offer health savings accounts once the law creating them took effect on Jan. 1, 2004.

Webster Financial Corp. is the holding company for Webster Bank and Webster Insurance; it has $17.4 billion of assets.
