In Brief: Insurer Phoenix Hires Wholesaler Exec for L.A.

Phoenix Cos. Inc. in Hartford, Conn., said Wednesday that it had hired Matthew Schleichkorn from Morgan Stanley to be a senior vice president of Phoenix Investment Partners' Los Angeles territory.

Phoenix manufactures life insurance, annuity, and asset management products for the accumulation, preservation, and transfer of wealth. Its Phoenix Investment Partners Ltd. is the insurer's principal asset management subsidiary, with $42.3 billion of third-party assets under management at June 30. Among Mr. Schleichkorn's duties as part of the unit's wholesaling team is carrying out the strategy of targeting advisers and diversifying distribution channels for its mutual fund and managed account offerings.

At Morgan Stanley, Mr. Schleichkorn most recently was a national sales manager based in New York City.
