Phoenix Cos. Inc. in Hartford, Conn., announced Wednesday that it had hired Douglas Glidden to be a wholesaler and senior vice president for its North Carolina-Tennessee-Virginia territory.

Among Mr. Glidden's responsibilities are to be executing the company's strategy of targeting new advisers and diversifying distribution channels for its mutual fund and managed account products.
Mr. Glidden joined Phoenix with more than 20 years of wholesaling experience, most recently at Munder Capital Management, a Birmingham, Mich., unit of Comerica Inc.
Phoenix Cos.' principal asset management subsidiary, Phoenix Investment Partners Ltd., had $42.3 billion of third-party assets under management at June 30.
