Mr. Cronje is to lead the firm's quantitative equity research activities and hold portfolio management responsibilities, the company said Monday. He is to join the management team for Wilmington Trust's large-cap core, large-cap value, and large-cap growth strategies. He also is to pilot-test the company's effort to expand internal small- and mid-cap coverage and international and market-neutral products, and he will evaluate new approaches to passive investing.

Before joining Wilmington Trust, Mr. Cronje was a director and deputy head of the quantitative equity products team at Schroder Investment Management Ltd. in London.

Wilmington Trust Corp. had $36.8 billion of assets under management at June 30.
