Investor confidence grew slightly in August, according to State Street Global Markets, the investment research and trading arm of State Street Corp.
The Boston company's monthly investor confidence index rose two points this month, to 82.8, it said on Tuesday.
Developed by two Harvard University professors, the index measures investor confidence quantitatively by analyzing institutional investors' buying and selling patterns. It is based on the willingness of investors to hold proportionally more or fewer high-risk investments in their portfolios.
Since its introduction in September 2003, the State Street Investor Confidence Index has become an economic indicator for asset owners, investment managers, and banks.
